What Monmouth families should know this week

Four institutions worth revisiting this week — one anchored in Lincroft on the Brookdale campus, one across the road at 850 Newman Springs, one perched over the Navesink, and one whose sign appears on more Rumson front lawns than any other independent brokerage. If you already know all four, this piece is a refresher on how to engage. If a friend from out of state asks what a summer weekend in central Monmouth actually looks like, this is a fair map.

Christian Brothers Academy (Lincroft)

About. Founded in 1959 by the Christian Brothers of Ireland, CBA Lincroft is a Catholic, all-boys college-preparatory secondary school on 155 acres in Lincroft. President R. Ross Fales has led the school since 2002; Principal Neil Begley runs day-to-day operations. Tuition for 2025-26 is $21,900.

What's interesting for families. Fall 2026 admissions dates are firm: Open House on Sunday, October 5 and Wednesday, October 22, with the entrance exam on Saturday, October 25 or Saturday, November 15. Applications are due Tuesday, November 25. Financial aid for early review closes the same day. Scholarship applications open December 22, 2025 and close January 16, 2026.

Monmouth Museum (Lincroft & Dunellen)

About. Founded in 1963 on the Brookdale Community College campus at 765 Newman Springs Road, the Monmouth Museum is celebrating its first expansion in 60 years — a satellite gallery in downtown Dunellen that opened May 2, 2026 after a $500,000 NJEDA A.R.T. Phase II grant. Executive Director Erika Schaefer is running the growth chapter.

What's interesting for families. On view now through September 7, 2026 in the Main Gallery: Native Americans of New Jersey: Past and Present, curated by Dr. Phoebe Farris in recognition of the U.S. 250th anniversary. The museum's Wonder Wing and STEAM Wing remain a Saturday standby for Monmouth families with kids under twelve.

Salt Creek Grille (Rumson)

About. Opened April 1998 at 4 Bingham Avenue on the Navesink, Salt Creek Grille Rumson is co-owned by Steve Bidgood (New Jersey Restaurateur of the Year, 2015) and Hugh Preece under the Benchmark Enterprises umbrella. The kitchen is a mesquite-fired, scratch-cooking operation — everything from soups to the signature stuffed shrimp is made in-house.

What's interesting for families. Dinner runs Monday–Thursday 5–9 p.m., Friday–Saturday 5–9:30 p.m., Sunday 5–8:30 p.m., with the bar open at 4. The Navesink deck, weather permitting, is one of the more reliable summer sunset seats in Monmouth. Reservations: 732-933-9272.

Resources Real Estate (Rumson HQ, four Monmouth offices)

About. Founded in 2000 by the late Carolyn Ozar Diakon, Resources Real Estate is an independent Monmouth-based brokerage co-owned today by Thomas McCormack (Senior Partner and Broker of Record) and Robert Diakon. Roughly 100 sales associates work out of Rumson, Colts Neck, Atlantic Highlands, and Manasquan.

What's interesting for families.
